Tarquinia, Italy.

Unlike other trips I have taken, this one was a field school with the Universita di Pisa Classical Archaeology department.

I apologise for how boring that sentence is.

The trip however, consisted of visiting the site of Etruscan tombs in the Necropolis, some of which dated to 500BC and were remarkably well preserved.

Basically, a historians paradise.

I won’t bore with the details. However, the Etruscans, along with the romans and Greeks provide the basis of our Western and some Eastern civilisation. However, unlike the Greek and Romans, the Etruscans, as a civilisation and peoples, died out completely. Making their way of life unique and something we only know limited things about.
